You're not alone if you awoke this morning to find your Instagram account has been suspended at random. Many customers have reported being unable to access their accounts and being notified that their accounts have been locked. The Meta-owned social network has recognized the problem and stated that it is investigating the widespread outage.
"We are aware that some of you are experiencing difficulties accessing your Instagram account," Instagram's communications team stated in a tweet. "We're investigating and sorry for the inconvenience."

The problem looks to be a technical error rather than a widespread account ban. However, the widespread issue is causing much consternation, since many users have been informed by the app that they have violated its rules. Instagram users are also witnessing a fall in their follower numbers, which is most likely related to the suspension of a large number of accounts.
According to complaints on the third-party site monitoring service Downdetector, the problem appears to have started at 8:30 a.m. EDT/5:30 a.m. PDT. At the time of writing, the website has received almost 4,000 reports.
